There’s no question that it’s important to stay in contact with your tenants. Being an absentee landlord may have its perks, but ultimately, you’ll end up paying in the long run. However, that doesn’t mean you want to call your tenants or knock on their door all the time!
The solution? Create a monthly tenant newsletter. Here are three things you can include in the newsletter that your tenants will appreciate.
- Policy reminders
Owning property is more complicated than it initially seems, but renting is just as complicated. From due dates for rent checks to paying utilities and what is considered an emergency, having a newsletter can keep all of these issues at the front of your tenants minds.
- Tenant tips
There are plenty of tips you can share with your tenants that they will appreciate, and you’ll appreciate having given them those tips in the long run. For example, share ways that they can decorate without damaging the walls or list a how-to on getting started on your tenant portal so that they can pay rent online.
- Local promotions
Creating a sense of community is extra work that is worth the payoff. By showing your tenants that you care, they’re more likely to be good tenants! An easy way to do this is by sharing local promotions.
Ask local restaurants and coffee shops if they would be willing to offer your tenants a special deal for stopping by. They’ll enjoy having a new customer and your tenants will enjoy saving a little money!
